LAUNCH OF BEACH SITTING VOLLEYBALL SPORT IN RWANDA
On Saturday 17th December 2016 at Rubavu District, Western Province on Gisenyi Beach Grounds held the launch of Beach sitting volleyball. Six teams coming from Gasabo, Gisagara, Musanze and Rubavu Districts participated in the competition.
The National Paralympics Committee who organized this event wish to have many players for this amazing sport but the big challenge they have is to find means to organize trainings as well as many Districts are found far from beaches.
Beach sitting volleyball is a sport played at beach ground where teams are made up of 3 players against vs 3 players, with 1 Minimally Disabled (MD) player permitted. There is a rotational order, but players can sit where they like in their court and the court size is 8m x 4m.
In his speech, Mr. Celestin NZEYIMANA President of NPC Rwanda informed participants that Rwanda Team will participate in Beach sitting volleyball Africa 2017 which will be held in Kenya. Their objective is to win the first Beach sitting volleyball Africa competition.
